The winter season is 1.10 – 31.5.

Ice hole swimming

The municipality’s maintained ice hole swimming place is located at the end of Oikopolku, in the northern part of centre of Pielavesi.

The key to the changing rooms can be claimed from the Environment and Living Services office (address: Puustellintie 10). The key deposit is 30 euros.

The seasonal fee is 10 euros, which is charged to users one per winter swimming season.

Shooting ranges

Shooting range of Pielavesi is located in the address of: Maaningantie 93.

The shooting range has skeet range, trap range, shotgun range of 1500 rounds/year and elk range of 5000 rounds/year.

There is also an air gun track on the ground floor of Opinportti and its address is: Koulutie 3.

Ski routes and grit track

Ski routes and grit track in Pielavesi start at the Suojala sports field (address: Kisapolku 12).

There are altogether 8 kilometers of guided routes, which of 6,5 kilometers are lit. You can choose from different length routes, levels of difficulty and height difference that suit your skiing needs. The Environment and Living Service department of the municipality of Pielavesi is responsible for the maintenance of the ski routes on weekdays. On the weekends and public holidays, the ski routes are maintained by Pielavesi Mäenlaskun Kannatusyhdistys ry.

Outdoor recreation area at Kakkomäki

The area of Kakkomäki is located about 3 kilometers from the centre of Pielavesi (address: Pielavedentie 151). Pielavesi Mäenlaskun Kannatusyhdistys ry is in charge of the outdoor recreation area.

In winter, there are possibilities to ski-jump, downhill skiing, sledging and cross-country skiing. In the summer season, there is an option for hiking.

Jumping hills of the area are K8, K14, K25 and K42. Ski-jumping is mainly focused on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 o’clock onward. It is possible to arrange ski-jumping on weekdays, if there is a demand for it.

There is a ski lift, which transfer length is 150 meters and lifting height is 46 meters. The ski lift takes you to the intermediate drop-off points of the hill and to the top drop-off point, where you can access the ski slope and snowboard chute. The service hours of the ski lift are determined by the snow conditions, when there is sufficient amount to make the slopes and ski slope operational.

The area has a 50 square meter Sami hut and its fire wood is for everybody to use 24/7.

Skating rinks

In Pielavesi, there are three municipality’s maintained ice hockey rinks: in the centre of Pielavesi, at the school of Säviä and at the school of Northern Pielavesi.

The centre Pielavesi’s rink has another rink next to it and locker rooms.

All of the ice hockey rinks are lit and used freely for playing and skating.
